Intro to the WMS Slot Game, “Plataea”

The gaming industry’s granddaddy, WMS, has taken the initiative to convert their Plataea slot from Flash to Html5. Plataea, which can be played both online and on a traditional slot machine, is essentially a Greek-themed version of the agonizing Hearts of Venice. It’s a given that the outcomes will be as expected, right? Perhaps the dramatic weight of that historical event makes Plataea a good option.

The first few spins of Plataea were slightly less terrible than Hearts of Venice’s were. The theme helped tone down some of the cheesiness, which was much welcomed. The graphics have been improved, and the beachside temple setting is appealing. We apologize if this has been discussed already, but what is the purpose of the flaming ribbon at the screen’s bottom? It’s completely unnecessary, doesn’t relate to any other mechanics, and doesn’t belong anywhere. The first time around, it could have been written off as a glitch in the program. Still, it has reappeared, perhaps on purpose this time. What the heck, I guess. To the bet option and players can spin from 40 p/c up to King Leonidas levels of $/€100 a pop. The 5 reel, 4 row set comes to life when you press the spin button.

Plataea is a slot machine with 50 fixed paylines and a three-tiered paytable that includes low, mid, and high values. Silver and gold coins, as well as the black and gold pot and the column capital, are the low pay symbols. A sword and sheath, a helmet, spears and a shield, and a trireme are all considered mids. Finally, the two bonuses are a male hoplite and a female ancient Greek. Who she is still a mystery; may she be a goddess or priestess? In either case, she is the highest value card, and five of her will pay out five times the original wager.  Wild symbols, depicted as close-up images of eyes visible through a helmet, appear on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5, and can replace other symbols (excluding scatters) to form winning combinations. When utilized in a winning combination, a cool animation occurs in which the helmet is taken off.

The mathematical model is back, with a few tweaks. WMS may have lowered the RTP to 96.079% in response to the present market condition, which has taken quite a hit due to all the additional restrictions, though the medium-to-high volatility remains.

Slot Machine Features in WMS’s Plataea

Features are identical to those found in Hearts of Venice, so anyone who has played that game will have a good idea of what to expect here. With some alterations to the surface to keep it consistent with the theme. The Shield Mystery Symbol introduces this subchapter. These mysterious ‘V’-shaped markings all transform into the same icon upon touchdown. Shields can change into any icon outside the wild and scatter symbols.

If these Shield symbols appear piled on reel one, the game’s Hot Hot Super Respin Mode is activated, and two respin opportunities are granted. While the other reels and places are respun, the Shields on reel 1 and any other wilds or shields are locked into place. Any new shields or wilds that appear during this respin will also remain in place for the next one. After the second re-spin, all of the shields will have changed to show the same shared symbol, and the winners will be awarded their prizes.

You’ll want to see the temple on reels 1, 3, and 5 because it acts as a scatter. When 3 are in view, they award 10 Free Spins. During the bonus round, the odds of winning are boosted by adding more wild and shield symbols to the reels. The Hot Hot Super Respin Mode can be activated during this round, and if there are three Scatter symbols anywhere in view, you’ll receive 10 more free games.

Casino Game Review: Plataea (WMS)

Although the RTP has been reduced, Plataea is an upgrade over Hearts of Venice. The gameplay is the same, but the Ancient Greek theme is handled better than the cheesy love story. It’s still not very enjoyable, but it won’t leave you wanting to club baby seals when class is over. At its heart, though, it remains more or less the same experience as before. This implies it is subject to the same criticisms that were leveled at Hearts of Venice. It contains the obvious things like old fashioned artwork and the glacial speed, as well as details. Before, the fireman’s unique flair was appreciated; now, however, his antics stand out like a sore thumb. And last, there are the benefits. The maximum payout for a full screen of the top symbol is only 250 times the wager. Not worth getting all geared up for war over.

In light of this, the short answer to the original question is that Plataea is not a good option unless you’re a die-hard lover of the original. Considering how numerous and widespread the Ancient Greek slot category is, there are a plethora of other games from which to choose. It’s impossible to recommend Plataea to even the hardest of fanatical Ancient Greek lover. WMS deserves credit for keeping with a novel theme, but unfortunately, the remainder of the slot is about as entertaining as waiting in line after your phone’s battery has run out.
